5 Tips for First-Time Summit Attendees from Dr. Sujuan Ba

By design, the NFCR Global Summit is an event like no other. NFCR prides itself on its ability to bring together the cancer community’s brightest minds, who can help bring us closer to cures.
Part of what makes this event so special is the ‘immersive’ environment that encourages the audience to actively participate to further our understanding and challenge our community to think outside the box to achieve our shared goal of ending cancer as we know it!
Ahead of this year’s event, we asked NFCR President and CEO Dr. Sujuan Ba for her advice on how first-time Summit attendees can maximize their experience.
Review the panels and speakers to help prepare you for networking.
This event, as a three-part program throughout the day and evening, brings together the brightest minds from across the cancer research ecosystem to unite and shape the future of the fight against cancer. It is a dynamic think tank forum where groundbreaking ideas are sparked through organic, unscripted discussions. Instead of presentations, it focuses on brainstorming. In addition to the many featured speakers, we also have business leaders, survivors, and advocates attending who can further our understanding.
The morning panels will focus heavily on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Precision Medicine and Cancer Care. Consider what questions can be asked of the experts to provoke a meaningful discussion.

Prepare your elevator pitch for your work.
The attendees of this meeting include some of the brightest and most innovative minds working to tackle cancer across the oncology ecosystem. Sharing your goals, challenges, and needs can help spark collaborations that accelerate progress and benefit patients more quickly.
Bring business cards to network and foster future collaborations.
Every attendee has a specific interest in the cancer research ecosystem. Many of the partnerships on display at the NFCR Global Summit are the result of past events and the organic conversations that take place. Keep an open mind to your research needs and how you can contribute. Many past attendees recognize the Summit as the best conference they have ever attended with the right people and the right size.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
One of the most engaging aspects of the NFCR Global Summit is the meaningful discussions sparked when leaders or rising stars in the community ask thought-provoking questions. Be ready to be part of that dialogue and help shape the future of our industry. Spontaneous discussion is encouraged.
Take notes.
Valuable insights and critical needs will be shared at the summit. There will be discussions on the next steps and ways to continue advancing progress. Take notes and plan action for after the event. We love hearing from attendees, so keep track of your thoughts and reach out to us with your feedback afterwards.
